As part of Department of City Planning (DCP) applications in NYC, applicants must sometimes illustrate how their proposed building will impact adjacent open spaces.

Many standard applications to the NYC city planning agency require 3D diagrams showing the volume of a proposed building situated within the streetscape.
When a rezoning is proposed, multiple buildings often need to be modeled. All background photos were taken during site visits, which I also helped coordinate to ensure the correct viewpoints were photographed.

In order to supplement applications to the Department of City Planning (DCP) in NYC, applicants sometimes request an illustration of their proposed building in context.
This allows the review team to feel more confident in what they're approving, since these illustrations tend to feel more realistic than standard architectural drawings.

Topography can make sites harder to develop, so property owners often have to request a variance to loosen zoning regulations that would otherwise make it impossible to construct new buildings.
To supplement this type of application, site sections are sometimes included to compare the subject site to its neighbors, or to show "hardships" that are unique to the applicant's site.
